Knowing how to choose an alcohol pad making machine starts with the finished product, not the headline speed. The pad size and fold, the pouch length, the lane count, the way the non-woven is fed, how the liquid is dosed, and how the pouch is sealed and printed all affect output, material cost and how stable production is. This guide covers the parameters that matter when you buy, and ends with a checklist for a trial run on your own material. For the full machine data, see our alcohol swab packaging machine specifications for 4- and 6-lane models.
Define the End Product Before Choosing an Alcohol Pad Machine
The pad and pouch format set most of the machine configuration. ZXJ alcohol pad machines can fold the non-woven in 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 or 1/6. The unfolded material can be 30–90 mm wide and 40–90 mm long. The common reference format is a 30 × 60 mm piece folded in half to 30 × 30 mm, packed in a 50 × 50 mm sachet. The sachet length can be set on the touchscreen from 50 to 75 mm.
Before you ask for a quotation, fix three things: the unfolded pad size, the fold type and the finished sachet size. Changing any of them later can change the folding parts, the film layout and the output.

Alcohol Swab Machine Lane Count: Four or Six Lanes
All the lanes run together. Each cycle produces one cross-row of pads: four pads on a 4-lane machine, six on a 6-lane machine. The configuration references are 400–500 packs/min for the 4-lane model and 600–700 packs/min for the 6-lane model. Across formats, typical output is 400–800 pads per minute.
Output is a range because the machine’s real speed is set in metres of film per minute. A longer pouch uses more film per cross-row, so fewer pads come out each minute; a shorter pouch gives more. When you compare quotations, compare them at your own pouch length, and confirm the stable speed in a trial run instead of relying on a nominal figure.

Alcohol Pad Making Machine Material Feeding: Pre-Slit Rolls or Online Slitting
The reference non-woven is 40–50 g spunlace on a 3-inch (75 mm) core, with a roll diameter up to 600 mm. There are two ways to feed it:
- Pre-slit rolls: one 60 mm roll per lane. The machine is shorter (production area 2.9 × 1.1 × 1.6 m, 730 kg), but you have to buy or prepare narrow rolls.
- Online slitting: one wide roll, 240 mm for 4 lanes or 360 mm for 6 lanes, is slit on the machine. It needs more floor space (4.8 × 1.1 × 1.6 m, 780 kg), but buys wide rolls, which usually cost less per kilogram.
As an example, the raw-material cost appendix in our machine manual lists 60 mm slit rolls at 3.1 USD/kg and a single 360 mm roll at 2.8 USD/kg. These are example prices, not quotations. Check the cost difference against your own suppliers and annual volume before deciding whether slitting is worth the extra footprint.
The pouch material is ≥73 g paper-aluminium composite film, 600 mm wide, with a roll diameter up to 400 mm. Both versions run on 220 V single-phase, 50/60 Hz, 2.5 kW, and neither needs an air compressor.

Dosing Consistency on an Alcohol Prep Pad Machine
Each lane has its own GOTEC EMX08-T/C dosing pump, so a 4-lane machine has four pumps and a 6-lane machine has six. The dose can be adjusted from 0 to 2 ml per pad.
Set the dose from the substrate, not from the pump maximum. The dose should not exceed the amount of liquid the non-woven can absorb straight away. If it does, the extra liquid sits free in the pouch, can reach the seal area and makes wetness uneven from pad to pad. Measure how much liquid your non-woven absorbs first, then set the dose at or below it.

Alcohol Pad Machine Sealing Quality
The machine is sold as a four-side seal packaging machine. In operation, each pouch is closed by two longitudinal seals and one transverse seal, which together enclose the pad and are designed to reduce leakage. Seal quality depends on how well the film structure, the seal temperature and the line speed match, which is why your own printed film should be tested before you approve a configuration.

Print Registration on an Alcohol Swab Machine
Printed pouches need the artwork in the same place on every pack. A photoelectric eye reads the printed eye-mark (colour mark) on the film and keeps the cut in step with the print along the film. Sideways drift of the film during unwinding is corrected by hand. Your artwork therefore needs a clear eye-mark that contrasts with the background, and the film should unwind evenly.

Alcohol Pad Making Machine CE and Compliance
ZXJ holds a CE Attestation of Conformity for the Four Side Seal Packaging Machine. It was issued by UDEM, certificate no. M.2026.206.C146163, under the 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive and the 2014/30/EU EMC Directive, and is valid until 12 August 2031. The listed models include YWJ-QS-DII. You can view it on our certifications page. The certificate covers the machine only. Claims such as “sterile” or “medical grade” for the finished pads depend on your own process and the regulations that apply to it.

Alcohol Pad Making Machine FAQs
How do I know which alcohol pad machine size I need?
Start with your unfolded pad size, fold and sachet length. The machine handles widths of 30–90 mm and lengths of 40–90 mm, with 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 or 1/6 folds.
Why does alcohol swab machine output vary with the pouch?
Speed is set in metres of film per minute. Longer pouches use more film per cross-row, so fewer pads come out each minute. Typical output is 400–800 pads per minute.
Should my alcohol prep pad machine have online slitting?
Choose online slitting if wide rolls are cheaper for you and you have the floor space. Choose pre-slit feeding if you already buy 60 mm rolls or space is limited.
How much liquid can the alcohol pad machine dose?
The dose is adjustable from 0 to 2 ml per pad. Keep it no higher than what your non-woven absorbs straight away.
Does the alcohol pad making machine have CE?
ZXJ holds a CE Attestation of Conformity from UDEM (no. M.2026.206.C146163, valid until 12 August 2031). Its listed models include YWJ-QS-DII.
Can I test my own material on an alcohol swab machine first?
Yes. Trials are free. Send your rolls and film; you pay the courier cost for the returned samples, and we provide a trial video or a live online video.
